(US) Al Gore's vision for the future of television—Current TV—launched in the USA yesterday. It's aim is to target the 18-35 year old demographic by offering an alternative to mainstream television—programming segments, dubbed 'pods,' instead of long-form programming.
These shorts—ranging from 15 second to five minutes in length—fill the Current TV schedule and viewers have an opportunity to get their own homemade video efforts featured on the station.
Speaking about the aims of the channel Gore said: 'The internet opened a floodgate for young people whose passions are finally being heard, but TV hasn't followed suit… We intend to change that.'
