Sociopreneurism
Reveries discusses the rise in Sociopreneurism—young people who want to 'use the skills of the marketplace to solve social problems innovatively.' There are even fellowships available at Harvard and the article looks at the academic growth in this area.
Phatgnat is not suprised. Young people are becoming a lot more interested in the social aspect and community return of companies and brands. They are a generation which has almost unlimited access to information and therefore weild power through their purchasing decisions.
Like anything, growth is through demand—whatever business you are in you can guarantee your consumers/constumers are (socially/environmentally etc.) demanding more from you as a brand/company—are you ensuring you can satisfy them?
