Business vs CSR

The Economists latest article debates the issues regarding businesses consideration for CSR:

'Social pressures often indicate the existence of unmet social needs or consumer preferences. Businesses can gain advantage by spotting and supplying these before their competitors.'

The whole essence of Ian Davis' piece discusses how defensive the CSR posture and debate is—businesses should think wider and 'capture the potential importance of social issues into their corporate strategy.'
