M&S Access-To-Work Programme
(UK) The Marks & Start programme ' the UK's biggest company-led work experience scheme ' has had great success with over 90% of people who have taken part claiming the short work placement with Marks & Spencer changed their lives, giving them the confidence they needed to get back into work.
Over the past year the community programme, has offered work experience to over 2,500 people who face barriers getting a job.
'Marks & Start has also helped our own people,' said Ed Williams, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Marks & Spencer, 'around 1,000 Marks & Spencer employees have acted as mentors in the scheme and developed skills such as coaching and communication—all during the course of their working day. While some had initial reservations about taking part, many have told us that the experience has helped open their eyes to the issues that other people face.'
