Everybody knows (or should do) about the social collaborative online encyclopaedia Wikipedia which uses the 'global brain' of the internet to create and correct itself…

Well, for CSR fans there is now 'charityWiki'—an online portal where anyone can post about the role and operational strategies of businesses, good or bad!

Here's the sites aims and objectives:

—To contribute to the growing body of knowledge concerning the role played by commercial enterprises - "business" - in charitable and socially responsible efforts.
—To contribute to and support all the socially responsible and charitable efforts themselves.
—To connect all these efforts in a single location.
—To empower volunteers to take part in actions supported by this charityWiki.

Currently, there are only 5 companies on the forum (which include Timberland, BP, Ben & Jerry's, SEMCO, The Body Shop) but you can imagine this number growing as social activists plus company corporate relations officials understand the nature and possibilities of such a site.

Also, the site doesn't just limit itself to focussing on the operations of companies—Goverment Institutions, NGO's / Charity Organisations, Related Initiatives, all have specific directories in which people can comment.

We will watch with interest.
