Shoot To Thrill - Part 1
'Shoot To Thrill' is the latest project from Phatgnat which aims to enable young people to write, produce and film their own one minute video whilst participating in educational and personal development workshops.
Funded by Somerset County Council and Thales (a neighbouring business situated directly behind the local YMCA where the project is being hosted/delivered), the project is also supported by TheOneMinutesJr..
The ten week course starts later this evening and I'm really looking forward to working with the ten young people who have been chosen to participate plus coordinating and delivering many of the consultation sessions (we have two specific video artists covering the film side of the initative).
I have been working at the center for the past couple of months and the Shoot To Thrill course is part of a larger project which has been developed for the YMCA called 'The Y Sessions'. It's a sustainable participatory (project) model which will ensure the center can continue to develop relationships with its youth members and create involvement in the running of the center.
The whole programme will culminate in an award ceremony and public viewing of the young people's work at the YMCA plus, because all the videos will be featured on the TheOneMinutesJr. website they will also be entered into their annual awards for the chance to win further prizes.
