Youth Arts Gets New Scheme
(UK) Arts Council England have announced a new national youth awards scheme which will start next April. The Arts Award will be the first accredited youth arts scheme that recognises the development of young artists and arts leaders.
Between 2005 and 2008, £1.7 billion of public funds from government and National Lottery will be pumped into the project which will also receive support from Canon Ltd., who has committed to invest £75,000 in cash and £70,000 in kind each year in sponsorship over the next three years.
David Lammy MP, Minister for Culture said:
'The Arts Award is a wonderful way for young people to be inspired by and to inspire others through the artform they love. I am so pleased we now have an accredited, country wide award that recognises young people's engagement with and enjoyment of the arts.'
