Save The Hoodie
(UK) According to the police and the media, the hoodie has become the uniform of youth criminals—see Police Target Youths In 'Hoodies'—the Save The Hoodie campaign aims to reverse this perception.
I still haven't worked out if it's a viral campaign to promote the leader of the campaign, UK rap artist Lady Sovereign—but check out the 'history of the hoodie' on the site, you will be walked through how the hoodie has eveolved from prehistoric times, monks, Robin Hood, Little Red Riding Hood, anoraks to modern times.
Although this is a very 'tongue-in-cheek' campaign it does raise the issue of perceptions. I can't deny a hoodie has been used to conceal weapons and the identity of many criminals but it's a vast generalisation to assume all wearers are criminals.
