Missing Tricks
(US) Massachusetts-based EdTech Networks Inc. runs a little project called Ednets which enables schools to have slick and professional websites for their schools without paying a dime. Basically, the company sells 'advertising' which appears on the site which also pays for their involvement.
I'm not going to comment on the model used here just the opportunities missed…
I'm sure the schools have design and ICT classes whereby the students themselves can develop and design the schools website. Think of the experience the young people would get. Get local web design companies to give up time to assist the students and then they can 'advertise' their involvement with the project.
