Emo Discussions
I was discussing 'emos' with two young people from last nights Shoot To Thrill showing. It was an interesting conversation regarding the behavioural habits that define being an emo-boy.
The issue of two boys kissing (which is a trait of the emo-boys) was talked about. The two young people said they have seen it 'loads of times' and how it was readily accepted. I posed the question: are these emo boys kissing each other because they feel liberated and it's part of their identity or are they doing it to fit into that stereotype and belong?
They thought some were genuinely bi-sexual but most were just conforming to expected roles…
Another case of young people searching for their 'Individual Cult'.
