More Is Less
(World) Check out this very interesting podcast from Barry Schwartz, Dorwin Cartwright Professor of Social Theory and Social Action Psychology, Swarthmore College, and author of The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less.
The basic premise is that we all have more of everything but at what price:
—We have more money them ever before.
—Americans are sadder then ever before.
—Clinical depression is twice as frequent as a generation ago.
—Depression is also being observed in younger people then ever before.
…and so on!
So, what does this mean for young people growing up in this 'have-all' culture? And what about those who create services/products for this already overcrowded market?
I've got no answers just questions at the moment.
