Fame vs School
These stories revolve around every 6 months or so—how young people today would rather be famous than have an education. However, once you step past the 'moral panic' of a headline you get into the story and find out only 1 in 10 kids actually want this.
1 in 10…am I being silly here or is that low?
When we look at young people and the media-culture they are immersed in, is it any wonder (only 1 in 10) want this: through the countless proliferated mediums fame is becoming increasingly diluted and technology is creating creators (as well as consumers).
Most young people I come in contact with still want to 'do' rather than 'be', yet we still ask the age old question…what are you going to be when you grow up?
1 in 10… is that all?
