What Should I Do?
Rattling around in the net and 'blogosphere' (or more like 'clogosphere'?) I come across a vast amount of views, news and poohs (polite way of saying shit in the UK). Some of it relates directly to Phatgnat and my focus, of which I post about here, many news items get listed in my bulletins, along wtih a few other weblogs postings that have tickled my fancy. Others have a tenuous link and some are purely 'off-topic'.
There is a huge amount of value in the information I am gathering which I know very few people have the time or inclination to do. This got me thinking…
I am monitoring around 120+ RSS feeds, a member on 20+ listserve/mailing lists and get a whole batch of emails everyday—surely I should be in some way utilising this information collection?
For a while I toyed with the idea of producing a Phatgnat mag and throwing it out on a subscription based .pdf service. I shared the idea with a few close friends, colleagues and mentors—half of them liked the idea and the other didn't.
In the end it came down to a time issue, although I'm still a fan of it…
I have done trend reports in the past for thrid party consultancies and I guess what I'm deliberating is:
Should I be compiling reports and selling them?
Should I approach corporates with this service in mind (and add it to my website—although there is a fear of 'dilluting' and confusing the service)?
Is there anyone who is reading this and thinking 'I could do with some independent study/research/paper' on a particular topic?
