Mentors Questions
(WORLD) I don't know about you but I gravitate towards people who are honest. I guess it comes from working with young people who are on the cusp of rudeness through simple honesty (the best kind hey 'g'?!).
Anyway, one of my mentors threw this at me this morning which made me ponder:
I have a deal with my fridge—I make the effort to learn where it is and visit when hungry. Its part is to keep the food cool and light up when I open the door. It doesn't need to send me bulletins to keep my interest. With a good thing well presented there's no need to remind them—they'll come looking.
So then, of how many readers do you know the name?
When I spoke to him today he was talking about the people who look at my site but also those subscribed to the Phatgnat Bulletin (of which there are 650+). In response to his query I can honestly answer 150+—people whom I have met, conversed with, been introduced too etc.
It was also a response to Phatgnat Bulletin #34 where I was asking some questions as to who my readership of this (web)log are (check out the latest stats below):
I take his point about the net being a very lazy and counter-productive way of keeping in touch and creating REAL relationships. But for me, writing on here and doing my bulletins is a stepping stone to creating those crucial tangible relationships with not just potential clients, but also interested parties and individuals.
